Makalu base camp Trek

About Makalu base camp trek
Makalu base camp TrekMt. Makalu (8485m), the world’s fifth highest mountain, is generally climbed from a base camp at Sherson (4700m.), a beautiful high grazing area close to the angle of the Barun Glacier and bounded by a splendid range of peaks. The return trek into this isolated alpine world is one of Nepal's most finest and is accessed by way of a short flight to the airstrip at Tumlingtar beyond the Arun River. From here, our path takes us throughout beautiful hillsides, farmland and a number of wonderful villages, before climbing to cross the Shipton La (4225m.). At the high points of this typical trekking journey, the views enlarge to Makalu and to remote Kangchenjunga. We have a full day to discover above Sherson, gaining surprising views of the Kangshung Face of Everest (from Tibet side we can have more nice view of Kangshung face. To visit from Tibet side please log in our Tibet kharta valley trek itinerary) as well as close-up standpoints of the inspiring Chamlang and of Makalu's lofty South Face.
